crossroads

hmm, well i tried to see if 'something might happen' tonight.
i went to my local bar - crossroads - by myself.

there was a sign on my way home from work that said matt arnosh was playing at 9pm so i thought i'd go and check out some live music. pretty brave considering i was hardly dolled up (but then, it is also the local for MIT undergrads who i'm sure come straight from lab)

i had my hair in a ponytail. in part because it was so greasy this afternoon as i think i forgot to rinse out my conditioner completely this morning (which in fact, is ironic because i have been trying SO damn hard to get rid of this conditioner so i can start my nice new aveda rosemary and mint bottle that i bought two weeks ago.)

anyway, i got to the bar to discover he hadn't started yet. which is always slightly awkward because what was i to do with myself until he did? so i sat at a table (anna - same one) and waited while reading the local free paper i grabbed on the way in so as not to look like a TOTAL dufus. the waitress came up and took my order (merlot - the only red they have) and then proceeded to tell me someone else was already sitting here so i'd have to move. which was fine. there were two guys at a bartable in the middle with space for a third so i thought i could make friendly conversation and ask if they minded if i shared. only i thought i'd do it when the other people came back - i was in the middle of an article (yes, right).

so the singer starts playing. young surfer looking kid, i'd guess about 23, sounding a bit like the counting crows or maroon 5, or any other middle of the road american crooners. (i have the albums, it's not a dig at american crooners) but quite sweet. and then this girl sees me again and throws up her hands remembering that she's forgotten my wine. 'he had to go down to the basement to get the wine' - right, the wine cellar? for gallo?

and then she comes over and says very snootily 'you really will have to move' to which i said 'no problem, i was just going to wait until they came back' and she says 'no, you need to move now, i don't want them to have to ask you to move'

whatever. so i left. laughing to myself on the way home, nearly getting hit by a car who turned too soon (out of turn!).

i guess something could've happened. :)

at the crossroads.

ha ha. i kill myself.

I love your blog Meagan - but please look very carefully when you cross the road.
