i haven't had a chance to get to a computer properly until now,
despite lugging my laptop all over london and paris last weekend.
so a quick thanksgiving update:
it was wonderful!
now a longer update:
i landed at 6.20am on thursday and went straight to coll's house and straight to bed for a 4 hour nap. thank goodness for that because i don't think i'd have lasted the night otherwise. coll and i then went to holland park to pick up the pumpkin pies and the vegetables and had a few coffees on the way. so we didn't really get back and get the turkey in the oven until 4ish. people started arriving around 6.30 and it was a great night. the food was wonderful, the conversation was flowing, as was the red wine and therefore, much of the conversation escapes me now. but it was lovely. and of course, as tradition would have it, everyone gave their own personal thanks for what had happened since last year. and SO much has happened for everyone, new loves, new jobs, new houses, new situations, new countries!
sadly t-day falls on a worknight in the UK, so most people left around midnight to get home. coll, jasmin and i stayed and continued drinking wine and champagne and listening to elton john, dancing around his kitchen with wooden spatulas for microphones until 4am. (pictures to follow, oh yes, there's proof!) fortunately daryl was asleep two floors above us and claims not to have been woken.
jasmin and i spent a lovely next day bundling up and walking around portabello market. i was looking for a gift for jeanne (ended up with a velvet hot water bottle cover!) and jasmin bought cupcakes. (at a racket though - £1.45 for ONE cupcake - and quite literally the bakesale kind of cupcakes! only in england...)
everyone had a great time and indeed, i think thanksgiving may now be one of their favorite holidays!
paris is another story, but i must leave for work now!
happy wednesday!
