happy new year to everyone!
i hope festivities were excellent wherever you were and that heads are not too sore today. i for one, am fine, apart from a coffee headache. i fear i've gotten myself addicted to caffeine again while back here in the US.
i think last night was the quietest new years eve i've had in years. i actually watched the ball drop with dick clark and carson daly with a glass of red wine (but only the one!)
instead of a crazy night out, i went for a run on west cliff, home for a quick dinner and then to this interfaith meditation peace vigil - which was actually really cool. we stayed long enough to hear from the catholics, muslims, jews, quakers b'hais and hindus. each faith would have twenty minutes to speak, sing or pray or lead a silent meditation. a nice time to reflect on 2005 and the year ahead.
as usual, i also spent some time writing out my new year's resolutions. i usually have a numbered list of things i want to do or do differently. in the course of journaling, it seemed to come back to two themes: choice and love. while i'm not going to share my innermost thoughts on a blog (sorry folks!), I can tell you that i hope 2006 is going to be the year of choice (making conscious and informed decisions, not letting decisions be made for me by indecision, choosing the smart, healthy, good-for-me options, remembering that i ALWAYS have a choice) and the year of love (but concentrating more on giving than receiving! although a little receiving wouldn't go amiss this year!)
we shall see what happens. i'm off to a good start though. i've had a bowl of organic oatmeal and a tangerine today. what to do when we get to lynne's house for ribs and saurkraut? i might have to just go with this one because it's a german 'good luck' tradition. i'm going to have to ask jasmin if that is really true. if it's not, i'll do an extra run next week. :)
i hope 2006 is good to all of you. feel free to share your own resolutions with me!
