sunshine and cheese!

it's a BEAUTIFUL day here in boston.
the sun is shining and the sky is as blue as i've ever seen. it's a chilly 30 degrees (Fahrenheit) but it's not bitter as it was the other day. (i thought my eyeballs were going to freeze shut). i'm not sure i could handle a 'real' winter in boston - apparently i've come in a good year!

today we're having an open house at work - to show off the fruits of our labour in our new offices. we had a trip to IKEA last week to pick up bookshelves, tables, couches, and other random bits and pieces. we were going to pay the IKEA assemblers to put them together for us - but in the end, decided to do it ourselves every evening this week with a beer or two. (believe me, they were needed, have you ever tried putting together an IKEA bookshelf with a tool the size of a pencil?) and we ordered some vintage/retro/art deco style travel posters for the walls. sadly they arrived mashed up, so it's unlikely we'll be able to salvage them for the party, but we'll make do. i was responsible for the cheese and wine, so i went shopping yesterday getting 2 cheeses from each of the 5 countries we work with (england, france, ireland, spain and switzerland) - i think we may have quite a bit of leftovers - but who wouldn't want to take some manchego home?! i think the office is going to stink today. i also got 15 bottles of wine - from spain and france. so all in all, it should be a nice afternoon.

this weekend i'm off to connecticut with my cousin to visit our aunts for a girly weekend and i'm really looking forward to it. it will be nice to relax, be out of the city and eat lots of nice family food. i've been surviving on pasta for far too long.
