shoes glorious shoes

today i discovered stilettos.
i've never owned a pair and honestly never thought i would, until i tried them on today.

the problem with living in a city and not knowing that many people is that my saturdays tend to be spent walking around, getting myself out of the house, into the fresh air. but invariably that takes me past windows. and windows take me inside. and inside takes me to the woman at the counter for a size 8. i can't help it.

today i was out for a purpose though. i have to get a dress for a friend's 30th in paris in two weeks time. she's got a theme to her party - felinni (la doce vita, rome in the sixties, elegent, chic, couture, etc etc - all things i am not which means i have to look extra hard to find the right outfit!) but i found it. i can't describe it here but i will send pictures to anyone interested after the party.

and when i saw these stilettos in plain view while riding the escalator to the second floor, i knew i had to have them. it's disgusting the way i am willing to part with money for shoes. (i've already bought three pair in boston!) i hate to be the stereotypical female, but there just IS something exquisite about a pair of shoes that fit so well and look so good.

so now i just have to practice walking in them. it's a little tricky because they've no traction whatsoever - so i find myself slipping all over the place. hopefully on the night of the party it will be more like gliding.

i may have to abandon the slippers for awhile.
the neighbours are REALLY going to love me now.

happy saturday!

Meag,
Take a little sandpaper to to the bottom to scuff them up a bit, gives a little traction. I am loving the blog sort of sex and the cityish...

if you are not wearing nylons,,,spray inside of shoes soles with hair spray,,it should wipe out,,the idea is ,,it is sticky and your footstick to the show better,,

Geez meag, it's taken you 30 years to discover high heeels, but it's never too late! can't wait to see them, and your glamorous dress.

god knows what i'm going to wear, but i am so grateful to be going to this party at all, and if it weren't for you, i wouldn't be! thanks again meag. and i suppose i do have rather a lot of heels to choose from...
